"The band soars on a luminous version of Duke Elington's The Village of the Virgins and Moore's joyous Uninhabited Island, but perhaps the most extraordinary thing in this album of extraordinary things is a gorgeous medley of two traditional tunes from Madagascar, Nilentika and Tazanakely, that suggests that Malagasky music might rival the blues as a source of jazz inspiration. Happy Camp also includes five more Moore originals, a raucous Cowboy Henk from cornetist Eric Boeren, and another Ellington number, The Feeling of Jazz, which features an exultant blues solo from trombonist Wolter Wierbos."
